Well this week was up and down and all over the place.
Diana has been gone the last 3 weeks. She changed her phone number and
is still in Coos Bay. We stopped by her house and spoke to her uncle
today. he told us that she had been drinking some booze and that she
wouldn't be back for a while.... that about broke my heart. I continue
to pray for her and know she will join the church some day.
Jon is doing awesome!! He was interested in joining the church about a
year ago, but due to living situations, couldn't be baptized. We have
been meeting the last 3 weeks and he told us this week that he didn't
feel that same excitement like he did the first time. As we prayed
about what he needed to hear, we decided that we needed to tell him
that heavenly father loved him. We had a good lesson and then left. he
talked to us the next day and said that he prayed and read all of 1
nephi. He thanked us for telling him that he was loved and that helped
him feel the spirit again. He is working to be baptized in a few
weeks.
We met with this sweet couple, Huck and Katherine. They have 2 kids.
They have been "researching the church" for about a year now. They had
us over for dinner and asked us "why should our family join the
church" As I pondered this question, it was great to have the spirit
testify to them that they needed to be baptized, receive the holy
ghost and enjoy the blessing of the temple and all others that god had
in store for them. I don't think I have met anyone so ready, prepared
and studied up before. Huck said that he can't stop searching and
learning about the church. He ordered a quad online, has read the
gospel principles book and has been going to church in Albany for 3
months. Wow, he knows a lot about the church!! Gosh, it was awesome to
have a good discussion with him and his wife and kids. I am so
grateful that they are interested. We invited them to be baptized....
that blew them away!! They didn't really think it was necessary to
meet with missonaries, cause they didn't understand what our job was.
They had been anti-missionaries for a long time, but friends of Huck's
convinced them to meet with us. They fed us dinner and told us all
about their experience with the church over the last year or so. They
have had SO many witnesses and are reading and praying about the Book
of Mormon. Basically when we invited them to follow Christ and be
baptized, the spirit testified to them that it was good and right. It
was a powerful lesson and we get to see them again this week!!
Today we taught a less active lady, Lisa Cline. She told us that she
asked her 9 year old son if he wanted to be taught so he could get
baptized... he said yes! What??
This week although has been full of sad and happy experiences, the
Lord is definitely in charge. I have no doubts about that.
I am grateful for the miracles I have seen in my life. One huge
miracle happened a few hours ago. We met up with the Elders for lunch
and as we pulled out of the parking lot, they ran into a guy on a
motorcycle. It totally dented the car and demolished the bike. I saw
the whole thing happen. uhhhh, my stomach hurt so bad. The guy flew
off into the street. Luckily the elders and the biker guy were okay.
The man hurt his leg pretty bad. He wasn't the nicest guy to them and
I felt horrible for the Elder driving the car. It was a miracle that
no one was badly injured or killed for that matter. It really ruffled
all of us. As we said a prayer after wards, a peace fell upon us all
and we are so thankful that everything will be okay.
On the good side of things, we played this funny game, would you
rather...? I would highly recommend it to anyone!! So hilarious!
Today, Stephanie and Omar are driving up to Sweet Home to take us to
dinner in Corvallis. We weren't able to make it to Eugene a few weeks
ago, so Steph said they wanted to come up here!! I am soooooo excited
to see that girl again!! Love her so much!
Well, that about sums this week up. I am grateful for my life. I love
this work. I know that we all go thru trials and struggles, but the
Lord is aware of us. As we repent, the Lord takes the burdens and
lightens our load. He forgives us of sin, he knows everything!! I love
that. I love the gospel.

Boy oh boy it has been freezing up in here! I have felt so miserable
out in the cold snow, rain and wind. Ceds-- you are sooo lucky to be
in the heat haha!!
Well Diana FINALLY got back from her trip and we got to meet with her.
We read from the Book of Mormon in Mosiah 18. She understood
everything and wants to get baptized on her dad's bday in a few weeks!
I was so nervous and frustrated about her leaving and having all the
problems, but I was grateful that she made it back safe.... but THEN,
she had to leave for Coos Bay this weekend cause she was moving her
daughter. I swear Satan doesn't want this lady to progress at all. As
I thought about her situation, I realized that the adversary was
trying to work on me and it was effecting my work as a missionary. I
finally had to look over some things and pray that things would work
out. I felt a lot of peace and comfort knowing that the elect- Diana,
will not be led astray. I'm excited for her to get back in town again!
BTW... she told us that her whole fam is gonna come to the baptism and
that she wants them to all search the church and hopefully join like
her. haha! She wants 2 pews saved for her fam!
We got to teach Zora last week. She fell a few nights ago and hurt her
hip really bad... seriously why does all this crap happen to our
investigators?? I'm am learning some patience :) She got a blessing
this weekend and is making progress each day. She is excited to attend
the addiction recovery program so she can stop smoking. We are also
getting her some tapes of the BOM to listen too. As we met with her
today we talked about repentance and the healing that comes thru Jesus
Christ. Zora has gone thru A LOT in her life. She shared experiences
of how God loves her and that things in the past can be forgiven and
she can move on. It was so great to hear that!
I have been thinking a lot about the changes in my life and the help
that I have received from Jesus Christ. I love in Alma 36 when Alma is
teaching about why a belief of Jesus Christ is important. He tells
Helaman that he needs to put his trust in the Lord and that he will be
supported. He goes on and tells of his conversion and the joy from
repenting. He again bears his testimony of trusting in the Lord and
receiving that support. I love this story and it has really helped me
see that I need to be repenting and changing somethings in my life.
The support that I have felt in my trials has meant the world to me.
The struggles, temptations and trials don't seem so big when I remember
and trust in the Lord. I know that I have been able to overcome
difficulties and it is all thru the Savior's atonement. I feel like in
my mission I have felt a different kind of joy, a heightened
happiness, but I know that it can be even more enjoyable as I turn my
ways to the Lords ways. I am so blessed to have this knowledge. I am
so blessed to serve a mission. These experiences I am having has
changed me and is making me a better person for the future!

First off... Diana got snowed in this week in Klamoth Falls, so we
didn't get to meet with her. She was supposed to get back Saturday
night, but she slipped on the ice and got a concussion (sp?) and won't
be in town until Wednesday. Seriously Satan does not want this lady to
get baptized. I was a little discouraged and bummed about the whole
situation, but Diana is golden and she is strong and knows that she
wants to follow Christ and be baptized, it just won't be as soon as
she thought. She told us she was gonna park herself on the couch until
she leaves on Wednesday. haha.
We taught a wife and husband, Marty and Michelle this week. We found
them a few weeks ago, but schedules were busy and we finally got to
sit down with them. When we came inside the home, Marty looked at us
and said, "You two are just so beautiful, I was thinking and praying
about the 2 of you and hoped that you would come back!" Marty has had
some heart attacks the last few years and is in a wheelchair. He
expressed that he didn't feel like God loved him and felt punished. As
we talked about the Book of Mormon, Marty said, "The Bible can be
kinda confusing, but the Book of Mormon clears everything up." Yep
Marty, that is exactly right :). It was neat to teach them and feel
the spirit it there home. At the end of the lesson I said the closing
prayer and then Marty said one. In his prayer he thanked God that we
came back cause that helped him know that God loved him because we
were sent to him. It was such an amazing experience!! I was grateful
that my prayers were answered that day, we were able to be an answer
to someone else's prayer. Marty is still having lots of complications
with his health this weekend, please pray for him and Michelle!!
At the beggining of this week I was frustrated that we weren't able to
teach anyone and I thought about how much happiness comes from
teaching people, so I decided to go down a list of people and call
them to see if they would like us to teach. We called Jon Cannon. He
was a former investigator and told us that we wanted us to come back.
We have been over a few times and he wants to get baptized!!
The Lord provided for us this week! I feel like I have hit a breakthru
point on my mission. I feel like I just want to do everything I can to
do my part so we can find people to teach and share the gospel. It is
our job to invite. The Lord sees when we are diligent and really has
answered my prayers.
This week at combined district meeting we talked about our potential
and Christ's potential. I really thought about what Christ is capable
of, everything!! His atonement covers everything and everyone-- it is
infinite. One of my ZL's Elder Christensen said, "Don't put a cap on
the atonement and what Christ can do for you!" That has really hit me
hard over the last serveral days. I don't live up to my potential when
I lack faith to find or teach or learn something new. Christ is our
friend, example and Savior. I am grateful that I was able to hear that
and set goals of how Christ can help me reach my true potential.
We taught a less active lady, Lisa, and her nonmember mom, Zora,
today. Lisa has a 18 year old son, Chris, that started to come back to
church about a month and a half ago. As a result, we started teaching
him again and she wanted us to come over and teach her. Both Chris and
Lisa have made so much progress!! Lisa told us today that she is ready
to go back to the temple and wants to meet with the Bishop. Zora asked
us about baptism and the things that she needed to be doing now so she
could be baptized!! She asked about the addiction recovery program to
stop smoking and is excited to stop. This family has made a HUGE turn
and have been blessed so much. Lisa came to church for the 2nd time
and Zora came yesterday and told us she felt like she was "at home." I
am grateful to see how the gospel has changed there life is such a
short time. Oh yeah, and the 9 year old son, Josh, also came to
church!! Miracles I tell ya.
That is my week in a nutshell. I am doing great. I love being here is
Sweet Home. The ward is fantastic-- very willing to help and have been
referring so many people for us to see!! Sister Abbott and I like
working our tails off and have seen so many blessing and miracles as
we go out and find people that are elect and ready to accept the
gospel. I am SO blessed to be in an area that is on fire for
missionary work!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This week has been so slow... I don't even know where to begin.
Sister Nelson is gone, that was super hard to say goodbye. Sister
Abbott and I changed up our room and are getting back to teaching,
tracting and finding with just 2 people. I am so grateful that the
transition has been smooth. I love Sister Abbott and we have had a
good week together.
Diana didn't come to church on Sunday, so we have to push her
baptismal date back. We taught the Plan of Salvation and she ate it
right up. She told us that it made perfect sense to her. She told us
at the end of the lesson, "Oh I am going to the Celestial Kingdom!"
Sometimes I feel like I am living in a dream because she is so golden.
She came to the RS Valentines Day activity and met all the other
sisters. She introduced herself to EVERYONE!! She fits in so good with
the ward and they all LOVE her! It is seriously a miracle, boggles my
mind how perfect she is.
Ryan got confirmed Sunday. He has grasped right onto the gospel and is
doing his best to live the gospel everyday. The youth are amazing
here!! I'm glad that they teach me each week.
We had some really great opportunities to find and teach people this
week. I have really come to understand just how much I love people,
even when situations are awkward, uncomfortable or new to me. I'm so
glad that I have a thick layer that has been able to protect me while
serving.
We had a cool experience with this guy Bob this week. We tracted into
him and shared a little about the Book of Mormon. As we got to know
him he really opened up and expressed that he didn't feel worth
anything anymore. He didn't want to wake up in the morning and do
anything during the day. He started to cry a little. He didn't
understand why he was crying, but we were able to teach about the
spirit and told him that we were there cause God sent us to him. It
built my testimony and really taught me about following the spirit and
asking questions. Bob told us he felt kinda weird and didn't know what
that was. He said he was wanting to change, but wasn't sure how to do
that. Although Bob didn't accept our visit the 2nd time when we went
back, I know we were able to learn from that experience. I read
Helaman 9 and 10 today. Nephi is told to go back and preach and the
people harden their hearts and no one listens. If anything, that
taught me that we go up again. The work is never finished and nothing
can stop the work from progressing. People have agency and I can't
force anyone to change.
Oh yeah, so we changed our pday from 1-9pm from now on... at least if
that is what works better for the work on Mondays.. so my emails will
be later. Today for Valentine's Day we went to the church and played
Apples to Apples and Imagineiff... with our district. It was so much
fun to be with the Elders and hang out with them. Next week I get to
go to Eugene and see my girl Stephanie Morelock!!! I am so excited to
see her!!

So this week was so great!!
Tiffany, Shelby and Ryan's baptisms all went great!! This ward is
great at fellow-shipping our investigators. They probably had about 60
people at each of the baptisms.. it was nuts!! It was really sweet to
have Tiffany's husband get up at the end of the baptism and tell the
ward thank you for the things their family has been blessed with. He
is a very shy person, and I know that took a lot of courage to say
that. I felt so happy for their family!! Tiffany and Shelby had a glow
about them all day... even the pics showed a white glow around them.
Ryan's baptism was good. He was so ready to get baptized... it seemed
like the whole ward attended his baptism. It really opened my eyes to
think about how he was introduced the gospel. His friend gave him a
Book of Mormon and invited him to church. His life will be blessed
forever because of that experience. I have had so many things pop out
to me and taught me to be a better member missionary when I return
home. It is so important that we get out and invite people!
So I had one of the most amazing experiences on my mission this week.
We talked to a man and lady outside, Al and Diana, and they invited us
to come back. We went back the next day and taught a little bit. Diana
is taking care of her uncle Al (he had a major stroke 10 years ago)
and as we spoke she was so happy and positive-- this lady makes me
laugh so much. She kept telling us how much she loved Jesus. She told
us that some Elders in Coos Bay gave her a BOM, but they never went
back. She made us promise that we wouldn't leave her hanging. Well
then we talked about follow Jesus and how we do that as we read the
scriptures, pray and get baptized. The member that was at the lesson
cut us off and talked about something random, which bugged, but then
Diana out of the blue said, "Now about this baptism thing, I want
that. I know that the BOM is true. I have found the truth and it is
with the Mormons." Right then we extended a baptismal date. She said
yes before I could even finish asking her. Wow. The Lord prepares
people. We went back today and taught about Joseph Smith. She said
that everything clicked for her. She asked about baptism and if she
will need to keep getting baptized over and over again. haha we told
her that once she is done with this baptism, she won't need to do it
again. I love Diana!! She told us today that she needs to put a muzzle
in her mouth and listen to what God was trying to tell her. Man, it
was so crazy to have that experience!
I am super bummed that S. Nelson is leaving. She is transferring down
to White City and Eagle Point tomorrow... basically our eyes have been
a little leaky. I am gonna miss that girl so much!!
I am grateful for the gospel in my life. I love being a missionary. I
know that prayers are answered. God is good... that has been something
that has been on my mind a lot lately.

This week was fabulous!!
I got to go to the Portland Temple to watch Luke, Homer and Jacob
perform Baptisms for the Dead. Well, we had a little hang up with
Homer-- he didn't have the Aaronic Priesthood so they couldn't allow
him to do the actual baptisms. We got permission from the Temple
President so he could sit and watch, but I felt horrible!! I was so
sad that he couldn't do them. Homer had such a good attitude and he
told us that he was excited for the next time to go cause he will know
what to expect. He told us "The Lord has a time table for me and I am
excited to go back and do it." He is so solid. I taught a lesson to
him this week and asked him why he knew Jesus Christ was real. He
thought about it for what seemed like 10 minutes. He then told me that
he has lived his life with Christ and with out Christ. He saw that the
more obedient he was, the happier he was and now is. He has such a
strong testimony of the gospel. Everytime he talks I just feel like I
need to reverance myself more. He is such a humble guy and wants to do
everything 100% It is pretty sweet!! So Luke got to do baptisms and he
loved it!! I am glad that he and Homer have become buddies.
I love being a missionary and getting to see the work move forward now
is awesome! It was truly a different experience as I sat and watched
the baptisms at the temple. We get to complete work for those who NEED
this saving ordinance. I felt a piece of missionary work come full
circle as I sat inside the temple. Oh yeah, we also got to see the
Celestial Room--- AMAZING!! i didn't want to leave that place. I was
able to think about the spirit and recognize how I felt. I put words
and was able to describe how that felt. I was grateful for that chance
to really feel and understand in that moment what I was feeling, it
was so great!!
Tiffany and Shelby are getting baptized on Saturday! I am so excited
for them!! Last Monday night we had FHE with them and we played Don't
Eat Pete. The little 2 year old, Jim, won 2 times in a row!! We
couldn't believe that he did that!! It brought memories back of
playing that for FHE growing up, haha good times.
A miracle happened last night. Ryan Blackwell (17 years old) met with
the misisonaries back in October and he wanted to get baptized, but
his parents wouldn't let him. He has come to church every week, gets
up for early morning seminary and attends mutual. This kid is awesome!
Well last night he told us that his parents agreed to let him be
baptized... so on Sunday he is getting baptized!! I am grateful that
he was diligent and truly sought after something that he really
wanted. This weekend is gonna be jammed pack full of so many wonderful
things!! We also get to see Hayden Deatherage get baptized. His family
was LA and we have been teaching him the last 3 months. He is turning
8, so we don't get to participate, but we are excited to support him
in this decision that he has made! His family has really come around
and they have been blessed by the gospel. (Luke is Haydens uncle... so
many people are related here.)
I am so grateful for this church. People's lives change for the
better. People don't realize how much happiness they are missing out
on. I feel so blessed to be apart of this wonderful work.

This week I was so grateful to practice more patience and love for the
people in Sweet Home. Some days it is easy and the days when I want to
work on it, the Lord shows me and teaches me thru experiences. A few
days ago, we went out to visit a part member family and this cute
little pup comes running up to us. It was rainy all day and so the
yard was muddy. At first it didn't really do anything, but then it
jumped right up on my skirt. Sister Nelson, Sister Abbott and I all
had muddy paw prints from this dumb little dog. We went home and
changed and found that we had a flat tire. We had to meet a member at
the church and go on splits so we arranged things around. S. Abbott
and S. Nelson took the car in and I walked around town with a member.
It was a cold, ghost town in Sweet Home, no one was out. I was so
frustrated and had no idea what I needed to do. I was pretty sure the
lady I was with was praying that we wouldn't find anyone to talk with
cause she was scared out of her mind... It ended up not so great for
the 40 minutes I was with her. I knew that I didn't have a lot of
patience and love that day. I realized that I failed that day, but I
am glad that we get to try again to be more Christlike.... so
yesterday I put it to the test again. The member that we live with
picked up a lady up off the street that needed a ride home, Jennifer.
We met with her last night. She is spunky and a little bit nuts, but I
love her. As we taught her about the Book of Mormon, my heart went out
to her. It didn't matter that she wore bright red lipstick, 3 puffy
jackets, fur boots and heavy eye makeup. She was a child of god in my
eyes and I wanted her to feel love from Heavenly Father and me. During
our meeting she looked at us and said that she felt love from us and
thanked us. She has really been searching for truth and good in the
world. She LOVES Jesus, she even showed us a drawing on her hand of
Jesus. I felt like I had a glimps of what my Heavenly Father wanted me
to learn about love and patience this week. When we are baptized we
promise to take upon ourselves Christ's name--- all his actions,
words, characteristics... even patience and love. I am grateful that I
can think about those things and put them to action. I'm so exctied to
teach Jennifer, she's a hoot, but I love her and know that she NEEDS
the gospel!!
As for other news, Tiffany and Shelby are still getting baptized in a
few weeks. We get to have FHE with them tonight. We are gonna play
Don't Eat Pete... I'm glad that our family did FHE each week. Both my
comp's didn't grow up doing that... they were deprived of that!!
We got permission to go to the PORTLAND TEMPLE this Saturday!! Yahoo!!
I am so excited!! Both Homer, Luke and Jacob are all going to do
baptism and since they are recent converts, we get to go! I am so
excited to see that temple! Not sure if we will have time to do a
session, but just being inside will be wonderful. I miss that!
I get to go hang with Sister Losee tonight in Willamina for a day. I
am excited to be with her again. She's a bomb missionary and I always
learn so much from her. ;)
