I'm here!

Alright hello! I am in Central Point, just next to the Medford Temple. I can look out my window basically and see the temple. It is soooo beautiful. We get to go this transfer, I guess we get to go every other transfer. So I got into my area about 7:30pm on Tuesday night. My comp is Sister Abbott and she is from Lincoln, Nebraska! Yes mom she is very bubbly and happy just as President told you! I love you and she is so funny! She is training me really good! Sorry if this email is bad, but I was told that I get an hour, but since we had to go to the Library, we only get 30 minutes so sorry if my thoughts are all jumbled. Well mission work is not what I expected, but I love it so much! We tract and go knock doors about 10 hours a week. People can be rude and just slam the door or say that we are false, but I love the times when we pray so hard about finding the elect and it happens! We talked to this sweet man, Jay Taylor and he just needed friend so it felt really good to be able to talk with him for a bit! We are teaching a lady named April, he husband Derrick has been inactive for several years, but she is having the lessons taught. She has a baptismal date of May 15th, tonight we are going to tell her that she is ready and hopefully we can set it solid! Wow they are an awesome family! They are early 20s with cute baby boy named Brady, he is 5 months old such a cutie pie! Then we are also teaching other less active families and hopefully we will talk to a man that we met while tracting. He just got out of jail, but the message that we shared to him about being forever with our families really stuck out to him, cross your fingers for me on Tuesday night! Okay so I am serving in 2 wards and they are awesome! THe members feed us for dinner every night, I am praying that I don't gain weight! They just like to fix the best meals for us! AHHH! In one of the ward they made me stand up so everyone could see me and then they had me come and bear my testimony, wow I wasn't ready for that, but it was still okay, I wasn't too nervous! haha! We are teaching this 16 year old girl the new member lessons-- she was just baptized last saturday. She is so cool and knows so much about the gospel! I have loved seeing the change in people when they know that the gospel can bless there lives FOREVER!! So today in my pday and will always be on monday. Mom- we usually email around 9:30am but this morning we woke up and did our activity early so this is why it is so late, so look for it around then next week. Alright today was AWESOME!! Dad you will be proud of me! We woke up at 530am and we went on a bike ride from Central Point to Ashland it is 17 miles one way, so I did a total of 34 miles today! Oh wow it was really hard and my bottom is really sore, but it was beautiful! It is so green here! It kinda makes me sick looking at all the green! The bike ride was cool and we went with my district. My district is funny! Most of them are from Utah ahhaha! We also have the Zone Leaders in our district. They were nice today and they stopped and waited cause we were kinda slow. It took us over 5 hours to do it, ridiculous! I am running every morning and getting into shape though from all the crap I eat! We live in a garage in the back of the Baskins house who is one of the members of our ward. We have a kitchen, table area, bathroom and our beds in the garage haha. I hear that this is one of the nicer places, and I believe them! If you would like to send me mail, I can receive it at there house. The address is 928 Mendolia Way Central Point, OR 97502. So you can send them there for at least 6 weeks that way it doesn't get caught up at the mission home and stuff. Mom to answer your questions in your email Did you ask about getting reimbursed for your travel? How is your suitcase? Were you able to fix it? Where are you living? How is your stomache? I will send your watch and spray this week. Do you need anything else? love you, again!! I got reimbursed and they put money on my card- I get 140 a month. Suitcase is okay, got it open but haven't really looked into what I need to do. My stomache is fine, much better. Thank you for getting me the watch and spray, I don't think I need anything else. I am attaching some pics!! Here is my comp and me on our bike ride, plus the elders in my district. We are the only sisters in the district, but we have 2 other sisters in the zone! I love it here so much!!! I am praying for all of you :) Be good! Cannon- sorry about your games! Chase- Be a good brother! Crew- be the happy little bear okay? I loved talking to you boys :) I miss you tho! Dad and mom- I will write you letters, I don't have much time, but thank you for everything. Will you try and fill mine and Cedars dinner plate with a non member or less active member-- that is something that I know you can do! Brighten- thanks for the Glee updates! I love hearing about that haha! I don' t have time to read it now, but I will get to it later tonight!! I love that I am hear helping people come unto Christ, what a joy it is to be here and serve! I have learned to love unconditionally and I am soooo happy :)! Mom I am glad that you got to talk to pres, he is awesome! I love being around him and sister macdonald! He showed me the text he sent to the Dixons haha! I feel so much peace being here and know that Oregon needs me! I already see the help that I am giving and can't wait to just give my whole heart to them :) Be happy and safe and i hope to hear from you all soon :)!! xoxoxoxoxo

One week left!

Well hello family and friends! It is good to write home and tell you all of the wonderful experiences that i am having here at the MTC! I love it more and more as I am learning more about our Savior and my purpose as a missionary. This week we really tried to focus on the baptism side of it. This kinda freaks me out, but we learned of ways that it doesn't have to be scary and that people find comfort in knowing what we are doing right off the bat! So I had an amazing fireside last night. Elder Pace from the seventy came and spoke with us. I don't think I have ever felt the spirit so strong in my entire life. He asked that the talk not be recorded because of the sacred nature. He was able to create a setting in which we can all FEEL that our Savior loves us. I just bawled afterwards as I pondered the things that he said. He asked us what we would say to Christ when we die and who we would meet... deep questions of the soul. It struck me and I just offered my gratitude to my savior. I couldn't do this without his help! He also spoke of a time when he went to the spirit world and pictured a beautiful place. It made me homesick for heaven... I want that soooo bad! I want all of my family to be there with me and I KNOW without a doubt that it is possible! So today is PDAY yippeee! I got to do laundry and I have been writing some letters. I also get to go to the temple again. Last week I went through a session, man what a refresher from all the busy work that I do here, it was a nice change. On sundays we get to walk around the temple grounds before or after lunch... again nice change of scenery! It is crazy that I have been gone for only 2 weeks! I have learned so many teaching skills like listening, asking questions, using the scriptures and being bold in my approaches. WOW. I couldn't do it with out the Savior and the many prayers on my behalf! I have felt them all! So thank you so much! Yes, I have been getting letters on dearelder... they seriously make my day and make me shed a couple of tears-- I miss you all so much!! My shoes are comfortable... i hate hoes with the passion! They slide down ALL THE TIME Hahahha! My comp is doing TONS better, I love her so much and I just pray everyday for her that the day will be better than the one before an it is working. I spoke to my branch pres yesterday and he said that my converting has already begun in thee MTC, most missionaries don't start till the field, I thought that was kinda funny! I am eating much better, but yes keeping the salad bar my number one choice! They have great variety, plus the wraps are amazing! Dad- I probably should keep my ipod at home for now, not sure what the rules are with my mission pres and music, but thank you for the offer! Glad that you got my card and happy that you had a good bday! I love you so much!!! Please plan a hike to revis ranch when I get home! I soooo wanna do that! I have lost a total of 9 lbs... my pants are a little saggy, but nothing to be too concerned about :) Brighten and Rodney I am super sad that my car is sold, but glad that we don't have to worry about that. Did everything go okay with getting it sold? THANK YOU!! Cedars letter from the first day was a handwritten letter! Whoo hoo! I wrote him back so hopefully he will get it soon! Yesterday I had an Elder come and ask me if I was Native American,,, Hahahah I am pretty much the tannest one here, little whities here in Provo. BTW it is freezing here. It still snows every couple of days. Jaydee Bennion gets to the MTC today! I am excited to look for her, she is going to Spain! I had the opportunity to teach an investigator-- simulated I guess, but my comp and I invited her to be baptized and she said YES!!! Omg it was a great moment for me and I know that i can do it! Brighten and Rodney I am jealous that you are going to hawaii, eat lots of pineapple for me! One of the elders in my district- elder Roper went home last week. He got shot with a roman candle by his brother a couple months ago and so he has to go get surgery before he gets out into the field. He was hilarious and never was focused. we all miss him, but we can all focus a little more on our studies! haha. So I leave on Tuesday morning! I am the travel coordinator, yes I will wake up on time and I will not leave anyone behind like Cedar haha! My plane leaves at 8:39am for Portland and then a transfer flight to eugene, I will get there about 11:30! I will probably call before 8:30 hopefully, mom let me know what phone to use and I am guessing you will say to use the house phone yeah? The skirts I wear are so comfortable but I am glad I get to have gym everyday. I really love shooting the hoops and beating my elders at horse, they have yet to beat me! haha either they are just horrible or I am good, I think I am just good :)! So how is home? What is so exciting there? Cannon you said there was an earthquake in Yuma and Mesa felt it-- crazy!! hollie cow! On Sunday I was nervous cause they pick someone from the pulpit to give the talks, you don't know until they announce. That morning I woke up and i knew that I was going to speak so I rehearsed with my comp my talk and of course who did they choose to speak.... ME! haha I was sooo glad that i wrote mine. It went well and I could tell that the things I was saying was from the spirit and from my heart. I was glad to do it but glad to get it over with! Hopefully I am safe from this week now! Alright, stop crying when you read my letters, everything is great with me! Don't worry about me, all i want is letters and prayers! I am so excited to get to Eugene and know that I will do great! I have confidence and the things that I have learned are so helpful! I know that our Savior died for us. He has his arms opened wide so that when we need him he is always there, repentance is an amazing thing! I love you all! Keep up all the good work. Mom I will write you a more detailed letter! Boys you too :) I love the gospel and am so excite to share my testimony! Take care and you are all in my prayers! Go forward with faith :)

First letter from Sister Glasgow

Oh my goodness! THis place is absolutely NUTS! But I love it here so much! The spirit is here 24/7 and I am going to be sad when I have to leave this place in 2 weeks. Thank you all for the letters that I have received on Dearelder.com! That has saved my life! I love hearing about what it going on so please continue to use that! The MTC is the most amazing place. It is a place of study, eating, sleeping... basically that is all I do. My testimony of the Restoration and Eternal Families has bloomed in this last week. Wow. My companion is Sister Thompson from Sandy UT! She is always serving me, getting my door, and I in return try to do those nice deeds for her. One of my favorite things to do is to pray with her and for her. I don't think that I have ever prayed so much for someone in my life! She is so funny! She loves to tell jokes and is happy :) I am so glad to have her as a comp. She is going to the Carlsbad, California Mission. She and all the other elders are going there. The 2 other sisters-- Jolley and Stoehr are going to Eugene with me!! They room with us along with a sister that is going to the Phillipeans! I love the sisters and we have SO MUCH FUN! The first day was great! I felt so welcomed! In fact, Mindy was there to greet my right at the entrance and I just felt like it was such a blessing to have her pick me up! We talked about what great things I will be doing and then she took me to IHOP. Yes i got a free meal cause I am a missionary! She then dropped me off at the curb. Mom- I am glad she called you to let you know that I was safe! She was a tender mercy for me! It was really cool because tons of Elders greeted me at the curb... Cedars district even! They all welcomed me with a warm "Hey Sister Glasgow!!" I didn't even have my badge on. They remembered me and I felt very welcomed and special! That day was pretty much a blur. I haven't been eating very well, don't really have an appetite, but I am working on it! The salads and wraps are what is keeping me alive and well! I am glad that the fam got to see the pag! I was so glad I got to see that before i left, what an amazing things to watch of our saviors life and atonement! Mom--- I was FINE when I hung up the phone. It was hard saying goodbye, but i know that this is where I need to be and I am loving life right now. I have learned to not get discouraged... I pray LOTS! The first day we already started to teach the first lesson. We even have special appointments with investegators. It is real stuff and it gets hard, but the spirit plays a huge roll in my days. Brighten thank you for your email. I am glad that both you and mom were at the mail when you got my first letter! I am writing more today, so keep an eye out! You keep telling Avery who her fav auntie aubs is! How is the phone Canny! haha I miss my phone sometimes, but I am glad that I don't have it cause that would make it all the more difficult! Chase, did you get your braces tightened yet? ouchy! Don't pick on crew bear too much! I love both you and Cannon so much and I can't wait for you to experience what I am experiencing right now! Crewbear too. How are you you little guy! I miss you so much. I look at my pics often and everyone thinks that I have the cutest brothers in teh whole world! haha... lets get real you are the most handsome :) How is school going? volleyball? any other things going on please let me kknow!! I love my brothers so much! The elders in my district are amazin!! Elder Singley, (he is the DL) Baker, Roper and Free. They are the NICEST Elders and I love them all so much. They are such a strength to me and I will never forget the kind words, advice and strength they are to me! All the Elders at the MTC open the doors, smile and say hello, stand when I sit or stand at the table, and stand when any sister enters the room. They are going to all make great husbands some day! Dad- Thank you for sharing that dream with me! I have thought alot about grampas and the scripture Dand C 84:88 is always reminding me that they are my angels! I love you dad, thanks for your testimony and words of encouragement! Mom- thanks for teaching me to be kind, peaceful and giving. THese things have helped me tremendously, especially in serving my comp and district! The food here is all processed and makes me sick thinking about all the crap that is going down in teh tummy... I ate a strawberry sald the other day, Wow pure heaven! yesterday the food must have done somehting to the elders, because weird smells were all over that place! Haha! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to watch conference here! i payed attention like I had never done before! Wow I loved sister Becks talk!!!! Don't have time to explain. To be in the room with 2,000 plus missionaries is an amazing thing! i love all the devotionals and meeting that take place. I cry ALL THE TIME!! I am a baby, but I can't help it! Elder Singley reminds me a lot of Cedar! You will be getting some pics in the next couple days and you can see my district! He cries a lot, he is sweet. Just like Cedar! I got a letter from Cedar my first day and what a great thing to get from him! Is he in Trujillo now! Well my time is running out Family. Know that I have a testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. He is the way, light, life and I love him with all my heart! Stay on the straight and narrow path. He blesses us in the time of need and comfort! I know that he lives and he loves me and each one of you. I know that families are forever and I can't wait to see you all soon! Please keep sending letter and love and pics! I love you with all the bottom of my heart! I know that I am here for a reason, I love it here. Don't worry about me, I am doing great things. I love the MTC presidency, my comp, district, zone and branch pres! This place is amazing! I can't wait to get to Eugene and share the message that I have been learning about! I want to work hard and do good! Mom I hope this was a good email. I love you all! Remember to be a good example and follow the commandments! I am happy and I love and miss each and everyone of you!!!!! Until next week! Take care!

Love Sister Glasgow!!!! :)
