First Baptism!

Wow were do I even begin!!! Lehenekr Lechtnear was baptized on Saturday! Wow it was so awesome! Lehenekr has really bad knees (she is 61) and so we were nervous that she wouldn't be able to bend down. We thought about putting a chair in the font, or having her bend forward and push the back down into the water. But we prayed and I just kept praying that she would be able to just sit down in the water and have Brother Vitus take care of the rest. Brother Vitus is the Ward Mission Leader in the Goldhill Ward, he baptized her. Well Lehenekr got into the water down the steps and sat there and almost started to start sitting down without Brother Vitus saying the prayer.... haha she is so cute! She was like "Oh sorry, I will wait." We were also nervous cause the font didn't have that much water, so I just prayed that she would be fine. Everything worked out perfectly!!!! The spirit was so strong and I could see a change in her as soon as she came up out of the water. I can't remember the last time that I attended a baptism so this was great for me to see again. She was so happy and excited to be a member of the church!! The program was awesome! Two ward members gave the baptism and holy ghost talk. Sister Abbott played her ukulele while I sang Teach me to walk in the light. Lehenekr loves it when she plays and I sing so we thought this would be something special for her! I was filled with so much love and peace that day. These last couple weeks have been kind of rough. My comp hasn't been too positive and I tend to get down, but I was filled with the spirit that day and felt the confirmation again of why I am on a mission. I KNOW that I am needed here in Oregon. I was grateful to experience the joy of missionary work through a baptism. Don't get me wrong, every lesson, door knocked and people I talk to is definitely rewarding, but the baptism was just too cool!!!! I loved it so much! I have been pumped about finding new people! We have been teaching Miranda and Mondo Archuletta--- not related to David Archuleta though.... different spelling of the last names. They are 13 and 11 and are foster children to the Hibbards in the Central Point 1st ward. They started living with them about a month ago. Miranda had some questions about the church and so we had 2 appt with them last week and will see them again on Thursday. They are really shy, but starting to open up to us. We had Mondo read Amos 3:7 and we asked him what he thought that meant. Some people have a hard time comprehending the scriptures, but Mondo just gets it. He said "God calls prophets to speak to the people." Wow Sister Abbott and I were floored!! They are progressing well and I hope they will make the decision to get baptized. We told them to read the BOM and pray about Joseph Smith. The Hibbbards said that if they wanted to get baptized they could, so that was great news!!!
We had district meeting on Friday and it was cool, but different. The Elders were all so restless or something, but we all had a good time. Elder Peterson asked us to make swords out of paper so that we could write a message on them. We talked about Ammon and the people who buried there weapons of war. We did that too... kinda! We wrote down things that we wanted to get rid of, bad habits, negative thoughts or feelings. So then we marched into the gym and there was a little bowl full of dirt, so we all took our turns burying our little swords. We all got a laugh out of that! haha!
We went tracting this week and some guy flat out told us that we couldn't talk to him because he was "too drunk." I was grateful that he was so honest, most people beat around the bush and come up with lame excuses. hahah. Anyways tracting this week was alright. Lots of rejection and the weather is really hot! It is in the upper 90's. Everyone tells me that I should be used to it, but it is so darn humid here. It is totally different than the dry heat that I am used to.
Today we got to get pedicures. A lady in our ward works at the beauty school so we got them for free!! We also made shirts today that say Bite= Baptism... pictures will come next week of them!! Making them was a flashback from when I made them for Zickz Phlagz!!
I love you all and miss you! This week was great and I am looking forward to this week! I know that this is the Lords church. Wow my testimony has been strengthened by the baptism and i was grateful to be apart of it :) I know that baptism is the first step to be received into the highest kingdom. I am grateful that I can live with my family forever. I love talking about my family to people, and bear testimony that they can also receive the joy that comes from the living the gospel!! I hope you all have a wonderful week! I am praying for you all and thanks for all the letters and love!!!!

Everyone in Mesa!

Alright so this week was great! We taugh Lehenekr 4 times and got through almost all the lessons in order to be baptized. We had a little rough patch when her roomate yelled at us for talking to her about baptism, but everything was quickly smoothed out and it is all better! We went tracting this week and knocked on an 80 year old womans house. She told us that we were going to hell. Wow I was not expecting that at all. it was so rude and shocking that I thought she was joking. It threw us for a loop. We told her that we were sorry that she felt like that and we went on our way. She just stood outside her door and told us to leave! We knocked on the next houses and found a lady that wanted a book of mormon. We had a good talk with her and invited her to read and pray to know for herself. She is going to take the challenge and we are following up with her in the next couple weeks. I am so gratful for the times that someone gets mad or is rude and then we have good experiences on top of the bad ones. I know that heavenly father lets us feel a little bit of sorrow and sadness. Salvation is not a cheap price. The savior suffered pains and afflictions of everykind, so why would we even think for a second that we wouldn't have to feel any of that. Through the Savior we can be healed and comforted, but it is necessary for us to go through trials. They strengthen us and makes us appreciative! I am learning this a lot and have thought about this this week. Why do we go through trials. There is a great talk in the conference issue about Trials... Everything will work out for our good I think it is called. Anywyas I encourange you all to read it! I am so excited for this week and get to start of fresh and new and happy! I am glad that I get to be apart of the baptism on saturday and it will be a great experience! I love you all and miss you! Keep sending the love and support!!! Be happy and stay smiling always! Spread the good news wiht everyone! Don't let the good and bad moments pass you by! Faith in Jesus Christ is KEY!!! Have a great week and fun summer!! i love you all :)!! Cleaning the Inner Vessel

Alright so we had combined district meeting this week. The whole focus was on "cleaning the inner vessel." Basically we are trying to inventory how our missionary work is doing and how we can improve. I started to compare myself and was getting down listening to all the awesome stories about the success of other missionaries. It was hard to sit there and feel the spirit. At the end of the meeting, the zone leaders opened up a time for us to express what we felt and what we are going to do different because of the meeting. I seriously was just feeling horrible and felt like I was a horrible missionary. But some of the Elders bore there testimony and I just felt this peace come over me and I knew that I was doing good. I just prayed and prayed for peace and comfort to know that I was doing good. I felt the need to humble myself and really focus on the things that I am trying to do on my own and ask for the Lords help. The last couple days have been awesome!!! I have been much more happy and not so down and hard on myself. I know that we haven't had any solid investigators while I have been here, but our pool is slowly increasing! We taught Lehenekr this week and she came to church on Sunday!!! She is progressing so much it is so cool to see the change in her! She is so funny-- we were reviewing the plan of salvation with her and we asked her why we were sent to the earth? She said well we were sent here and then everyone started going nuts!! haha we still have a long way with her, but we continue to pray for her! Her baptism is on June 26th!! It will be my first baptism so I am super stoked!!
We also tracted into a family, Kristen, Jed and little Emma, on Tuesday night. We felt like we needed to knock some doors at about 8pm.... usually we try not to tract that late cause people are in bed (crazy i know!!) but we decided to go anyways. We knocked on there house and they let us in. They just moved about 4 months ago and felt like this was the place to be for a while. They met with Elders once before briefly, but they just kept asking us so many questions. The spirit was felt in there and I knew they could feel it. We didn't set up another time to go over, but we plan on going back this week. We haven't felt good about going back over just yet, but hope soon!! They need the gospel soooooo bad!!
We had our finding activity with 24 missionaries and 24 members! It was so cool to see everyone so excited for missionary work and finding people. The night went well. We still have a lot of follow up visits, so we are excited to get to see lots of people this week! I know that we will be able to add to our teaching pool because of this!
I got to muck stalls this week, you know clean up all the horse poo in the stalls!! Oh wow that was discusting!! Randy and Charlene asked if we could help them. I had a good time doing it. Wow it was really hard work. We shoved probably 30 or more loads of crap into the wheelbarrow's. I have been sore the last few days because of it!
So last week we hiked Tablerock Mountain. It was so beautiful on top!! Holy cow it is so green here! I will send a video of the view.... Dad you will enjoy it knowing you and the videos that you take :) I am taking after you!! Today we are going to Mt. Ashland and Lithia park. I am going to drink Lithia water, I guess it is this natural water that all the hippies drink :), I hear it is pretty gross, but it is something you have to do if you live in Oregon! Gosh the members just love us and take us all over the place! I am so grateful for all the wonderful people that take good care of us! A lady in our Goldhill ward is giving me a haircut today! I need it so bad!
Well this is a shout out to all the dads!! Happy Fathers Day on Sunday!! Dad I love you so much and I hope you have a wonderful, relaxed, chill, fun, happy, stress-free day!!!!!
Thanks for all the love and support, I need it so much!! I am glad that I get to do this work in Oregon! I love being able to bear testimony of the gospel over and over to people who need it so badly in there lives! This is a wonderful work and I am grateful that I get to be apart of it!!! :) Be happy and take care!! Until next week.......

Love Sister Glasgow!!!

Pray for us!

Hey all!!
Well this week has been alright. We are having a finding activity on Thursday night and i am so pumped! The whole zone is going to come to our area for 2 hours that night and visit less actives, members and former investigators. We are just gonna hit it hard. There will be 24 missionaries coming and they all have a member to go on splits with. I am so grateful for all the missionaries to help us find new investigators. I am just praying that we can find people to teach. I like teaching the lessons to the members in the ward, but I know that we need these investigators! Pray for our area this week that we will find people that are open and ready for the message! We went knocking on doors this week and actually sang to a man at his doorstep. It was really powerful. A lot of times people feel the spirit and they feel a little uncomfortable cause they don't know what the feeling is and they back away.... It is hard to express to them the way that that is the truth telling them to accept the message, it gets frustrating. I was struggling this week with not feeling like my words were touching the hearts of anyone I spoke with. It was an off week for me. President called me and chatted with me for a few minutes. He told me that I won't know everything over night (that is how I wish it would work) but I need to strive to learn each day. Take it one day at a time. He assured me that things will get better and that I just need to keep going. That is what I am doing. Last night I got a call from our district leader- Elder Peterson, and he asked me if he could give me a blessing. I didn't even think about that. I was so grateful that he was inspired to ask me that. I know that the Lord wants to help me, so I am working on humbling myself and asking in faith for things to happen. I want to help everyone I meet but I feel like I can't unless I have a better attitude and outlook on things. I know that I am being blessed and protected. Things will get better, I know they will!
So onto a more positive note and funny story. Elder Peterson and I are having a challenge. No sugar for this transfer---- 6 weeks! We started a week ago and i am not going to lose. If I lose I have to buy him and his companion lunch. Plus at zone conference in front of all the missionaries I have to tell them that i lost and tell them all the good things about him. I am not going to lose this bet!!! He is pretty determined too, so we will see how it goes. I am so glad I am doing this cause I used to have dessert almost everynight! So not good for my waist line!! Funny story-- We were tracting and we came to a house with a gate and I usually am very cautious cause most people have dogs when they have gates around there house. So I started to look around and Sister Abbott looks at me and says "How desperate are you?" (She knows how much I hate dogs so she was kinda laughing at me cause I was nervous to go in the gate) My reply "I will take a bite for an investigator.... No, a bite for a baptism!!!" haha we had a good laugh. Too bad i didn't get a bite, investigator or baptism. We are desperate so we are trying to switch things up a bit. We are going to bring Sister Abbott's ukulele with us to tract and we are going to challenge everyone to baptism. We are promising ourselves success this transfer. I want to make this the best transfer of my mission!!!
Well my time is running low, but I just want to everyone that has written me and been praying for me! I love hearing from all of you, it lifts me up on the good and bad days :)!!! I am doing great, no worrying about me. Just keep doing what you are doing!
We get to hike to the top of Table Rock this afternoon. Some Young Women in our ward want to take us so that will be awesome! I hear that the view is beautiful so I will send pics next week. It is a regular p-day next Monday so I will write again in a week!! I love you all!!!!!!

Sister Glasgow!! XOXOXOXO
