Family and Friends!
Thank you all for your love and support lately! I have felt an overwhelming love for all of you and just want to express my gratitude for the letters and support! I love being able to hear from all of you each week. It makes me so happy! This week was pretty cool! We got to see Pride and Prejudice at the Shakespeare Festival- it was SOOO COOOLLL!! I loved every minute of it. I felt myself getting pretty antsy because we usually don't sit and listen for 3 hours at a time. I felt like I had to get to an appointment, but I had to keep telling myself to relax and enjoy the couple hours I had to chill! The play was really well done, we had pretty good seats too. My favorite character was Mr. Collins. He was so awkward and portrayed his part well. On Saturday we taught a lot of less actives and recent converts. We were supposed to meet an investigator- Susan, but she was out of town for the Memorial Day weekend. As a missionary I am totally oblivious to holidays, today is just like any other day!! haha. It was a bummer that she wasn't home. Our district leader had a meeting with Sister Abbott and I on Saturday too. He told us that the other missionaries in the area felt inspired to help us with finding new investigators, cause we have zero right now. They decided to have a night where 12 missionaries go on splits with members to visit less actives in our wards. They are all going to try and get some referrals for us! I am so pumped for it and am glad that the other missionaries are willing and ready to help get our area moving. It has been discouraging these last couple weeks. Our work has been tracting lots and teaching lessons to members in the ward. Not that those things are great, but we need new investigators. It's funny how satan has been trying to get me to think that I am not good enough and tries to weigh me down, but I have learned to stand up tall and just keep moving forward, it's pretty awesome! Well we had a surprise this week at church! Lenny called us this weekend and asked if we could find someone to pick her up for church.... she came!! I think she really enjoyed the time there and the ward was so welcoming to have her there! She wasn't able to stay the whole time, but I hope she will want us to come over more now. I think she just wanted to get started on the book of mormon and find some time to learn more on her own. I know she will come around soon :) Also another surprise!! Do you remember Derek and April? She is the one that has been taught all the lessons but doesn't feel like she has had an amazing thing happen to her.. she also has a cute little baby that is 6 months old, well she came to church too!! We haven't seen her for 3 weeks and we called her last week to see if we could stop by and visit and I guess that helped her to come to church, it was an answer to my prayers. I just hope that when we see her on Tuesday she will be more open and be able to feel the spirit as we ask her about having us work toward baptism with her. I know that if she isn't ready now, she will be soon, I just know it :)!!! Today has been a pretty good day. We got up and cleaned the apartment and then studied before we came to email! I finished the book of mormon this morning. Wow I finished it in 6 weeks! It feels so good to read that and then pray and be able to have the spirit testify of the truths in the scriptures. I just love it so much!!! I feel so uplifted today and really happy :)! I am grateful for Joseph Smith. He is such an example of asking in faith. I think a lot of us believe in Christ, but I have been learning about Believing Christ. I am constantly asking, Do I believe Christ? I love being able to ponder the gospel, I do it all the time!! Today we are going to play dodgeball with our district and some of the zone. Elder Olson in my district is going home tomorrow also Sister Harrington in the zone... crazy that they are leaving!! Sister Abbott and I are excited to stay in Central Point for another 6 weeks! Anyways, yes I shaved my legs, they were getting pretty bad so glad they are nice and smooth :)!!! I got an email from Cedar this morning. He sent me a picture, he is gaining weight!! I hope that doesn't happen to me. I guess it is a good thing that I get to run 4 or 5 times a week for 3 miles, plus I do lots of workouts at night. Well I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day! Thanks again for all that you guys do! I love you all!! Bye bye for now :) here are some pics from Pride and Prejudice with the other sisters- Smith and Harrington!!

Alright so this week has been a little crazy! The lady Lennie that wanted to take the baptism lessons called us this week and said we were moving too fast and that she just wasn't ready to commit yet. That was a little disappointing, but we found 2 new investigators the next day. More and more I am realizing that as missionaries we find the "elect" and so it is our job to weed out those not ready and move on. It gets discouraging at times and it breaks my heart to see them give it up so fast, but they are not ready. We tracted into a lady that has read the BOM and has a triple combination for her scriptures. Her husband isn't very fond of the church, but her son is active in Idaho. She has a hard time believing that there is a living prophet on the earth, but we are gonna help get those answers when we go to her house this next week.
Things I wanted to make sure I tell you all -- I love you for one!!! :) XOXOX I pray for you all daily and I know that you are so strong and will stick together and be able to get through this trial, Brighten is right mom-- you and dad are so good at this trail and you will get over it again and conquer!! Thanks for the talk by Elder Holland. wow I needed that talk so much. I think we all get days were we start to doubt and be sad about how our lives are going, but it is important to remember those feelings we have had or situations were we have felt the spirit-- those carry us through the hard times. Thank you thank you!!! We had Zone Conference this week. Pres pulled me aside and told me to be strong for my comp. She is having a hard time with being positive. It was cool cause President was inspired to talk to her Bishop in Nebraska and he called her yesterday morning and they were able to talk about some of the problems and feelings she was having. I know she is doing a lot better and we are working so hard- she is awesome!! Zone Conference was cool. President told us to not be righteous robots. I guess he though we were being too good or something- haha! No, he wanted to make sure that we were following the spirit and going to visit people that we feel impressed to see. This is something that I have been trying to work on- yesterday we felt the need to stop by some less active families and we were able to set up return appointments to give them the lessons.
So a side note-- hahahaha i haven't shaved my legs for 7 weeks! yep I am awesome! I plan to not shave them till transfers on Tuesday-- btw I am staying in Central Point with Sister Abbott so keep sending letters to the MEndolia Way address :) My hairy legs have kept me really warm the last couple days since it has been freezing!!!!! My first 30 minutes is up so I will email this first one and continue on another email mom-- thanks :)

Alright so I have been studying the Plan of Salvation A LOT this week! More importantly I have been thinking about the Fall of Adam and Eve. I love the scriptures in 2 Nephi 2:22-25. It made me think about how we all have choices and were it not for the fall, we wouldn't have choices. Because they were in a state of innocence they didn't know good or evil-- they didn't have a choice of vanilla or chocolate ice cream. It was necessary for them to eat the fruit so they could live here. Adam fell that man might be and men are that they might have joy. A lady that we meet with on a regular basis always talks about how she can't wait to get out of this place and return home to heaven. Well I have thought a lot about the things that I am thankful for and I am able to find happiness and joy on this earth even though sometime we are faced with difficult things. Without the fall I wouldn't be here. I am able to enjoy my family and friends. I am enjoying the time I have to serve a mission. I get to teach people about thins and help them find true joy and happiness. I love that so much! I know that the message of the gospel is for everyone and God does everything for our benefit. He has provided the way for us to return back to him someday, I am so happy that I get to share that message with people all day long. It is great to see people making changes to make them happy, true happiness that the gospel brings!!
Tomorrow we are going to the Shakespeare festival! I am so excited to see Pride and Prejudice. Sister Abbotts aunt is going to pick us up (she lives in Medford) and take us to lunch and to the play. The other sisters that are serving around us get to come too!! It will be great!
Cool story mom- You sent me a hymn book in the MTC, but I already bought one in the MTC so I thought I would give it to someone that didn't have one- Elder Singley.... mom you are just helping him out a ton and he really appreciates it! He got the watch and he LOVES it! haha well he wrote me a letter this week and told me of a neat experience he had. He was teaching a lady that absolutely loved to sing and particularly the hymns, but she didn't have a hymn book so Elder Singley took the opportunity and he wrote his testimony in the front and how the hymn book came to be. He said that her eyes lit up when he gave it to her. He told her the story of how he got it from a sister in the MTC (me) and that I too loved to sing and he knew that she (me) would love her to have it. I think it is great when things like that happen. I was grateful that you sent it, cause that made me give it to Elder Singley, which then was passed onto that sweet lady! I love how that happens!
Mom and dad I hope you are doing okay! I know that everything will be alright and I feel comforted and feel peace. You are both so great and know how to get through the struggles that you face in life! I hope that I can keep your strong faith and example with me through out my mission!! Boys- are you all out of school now? Are you all heading over to the Millers for bbq and swimming for memorial day? Tell everyone hi and that I miss them-- more like I miss the sun over here, it is so cold and rainy still :) haha that is oregon for ya!! Anyways I love you all! Be good and stay safe!
For everyone- know that I have a testimony of this gospel. I am grateful for the time I get to spend in strengthening my testimony and bearing witness of the truthfulness of the gospel constantly. It is my hope for all of you to look for ways that you can serve and uplift each other. Continue to pray and read the scriptures-- ) am about 60 pages away from finishing it for the 1st time since being a missionary, I can hardly stand to put it down!!) Be happy and know that the joy comes from doing the right things. Try to keep moving forward and not backwards. I am doing my best out here and am working hard! I love the work! Love you all!!!!

HELLO!!!
Sorry for the delay in message this week! I forgot that my Preparation day was being changed to Wednesday because we got to go to the temple this morning! Wow it was so good to be in the temple. I felt really at home being there. The Medford temple is tiny! We had to cram everyone into the room cause all the elders and sisters filled up the session. It was awesome! We got to go to the Oregon Vortex finally-- we were supposed to go a few weeks ago, but it rained on us. Well it rained on us again, but I am getting used to the rain. It was pretty interesting. Don't really know how to explain it, but there are parts of the earth that have different phenomenons, like I looked taller than my comp in one place and I would move over and would look shorter, it was weird stuff! This member Jeff took us and paid for us and so we took him to get pie at this really yummy place. He is awesome! He used to be a gangster and in gangs and did some hard drugs, and one day he realized that he needed to change some things and he did a complete 180! He is always checking up on us and taking us out to lunch, he makes sure we are taken care of us. Well this week was alright. We were teaching this girl Cameron who was 16 and we had an awesome lesson about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith and she called yesterday and said it wasn't for her and that she didn't want to meet with us again. She was really nice about it, but I was super sad about it! Dang, I got over it though cause I know that there are prepared people waiting. So that brings me to Lenny! She called us a week ago and told us that she wanted to take the baptism lessons, well she was supposed to get baptized on May 29th, but she didn't make it to church on Sunday (she is older and couldn't control her bladder) so we had to push it back to the 1st week in June! Hopefully everything will work out. She is so awesome! She has a testimony of the book of Mormon and has been reading it tons! We are visiting with her tonight and a couple more times this week! I know that my prayers have been answered in the fact that we have this solid investigator. Other than her we aren't really having much success in teaching. We tr acted 3 hours on Monday! Holy cow my feet hurt after that. We talked to some good people and got lots of questions answered, but no one wants to have us back. It is tough, I am in a rut, but I know that by being persistent and show faith by moving forward, that I will be blessed and I am blessed. We tracted into this crazy lady that told us that the church is married to the state, meaning that we can't get married in the temple without a recommend and that when they did a study on cloning sally the sheep that she was actually the one that they took the piece from, not the sheep. She was nuts! She lifted up her shorts and sure enough she had a huge chunk taken out of her leg-- crazy people I tell ya! I had no idea what she was talking about! Hahaha! What else-- Preparation day is on Friday next week so don't check the email on Monday! We get to go to the play Pride and Prejudice! Yaaahhhoooo! I am so excited! I had the opportunity to go to White City and Eagle Point on exchanges. That was cool! The sisters that was my comp is going home in about 2 weeks and she is solid! She taught me not to be afraid to open my mouth and talk with confidence. I needed that so much! I am grateful for this week! I set some goals to help me be more focused and work harder on finding the elect! I love you all and I hope you know that I am praying for you! Mom and Dad I KNOW that everything is going to be okay!!! The Lord blesses us when we show faith and we are doing just that! I know that I am gone, but pretend like I am reaching through the computer to give you all kisses and hugs! I love you so much! I love the work!

Happy Mother's Day!

Family! What a great phone call that was yesterday! Sorry that i cried so much, but my heart was just so full of love for all of you! It was fun to hear all of your voices! Don't worry about me! I know that I said that the work is really hard, but I don't want to be anywhere else! Please know this and just keep praying for me! I love you all so much! Cedar sent me a little email today! It was cool to here from him personally! I loved being able to hear about him and know that we are going through the same kind of stuff! He is just growing so much and I look up to his example! I don't want to disappoint me or any of you and so I am getting back to work really hard and just push forward everyday! I know that the savior is watching over Cedar and I. He puts people in our paths daily and answers prayers daily. I love seeing that in my life everyday and I am so grateful for that! It is hard to see how some people live here, by heart aches for those people, but it makes me grateful for what I have and I have no reason to complain about anything! Cedar seems to have learned that really fast due to the poor living conditions in Peru. I love being able to serve. We went to a less active members house this week and we pulled weeds. We pulled for 3 hours! Wow I was so incredibly sore after that, but I love yard work. I am so grateful mom and dad that you taught me to do service and to do yard work. I enjoy it so much and know that people feel loved when we can help in anyway. I look forward to having my own garden and beautiful yard when I grow up :) Okay so mom I forgot to ask you-- can you tell me what my account balance is in my debit account. I bought a ticket to Pride and Prejudice and it was about 50 dollars. President gave us permission to go on a p-day so we are gonna go at the end of this month. it is at the Shakespeare Festival! I am so excited-- dad don't be too jealous that I get to do this! I will tell you all about it!! I don''t really know what to say cause I got to say lots yesterday, but mom I am glad that we made this your best mothers day so far and I can't wait for the next mothers day too! I had so much fun talking with you, although my eyelids are sooooo swollen today from crying haha! I am such a baby :) That is okay though cause they are all tears of happiness! Oh yeah and to all the mothers that read this, I wish you all a happy mothers day! I hope you had a great day and I love you all! Thanks to all those who have sent me letters, I love hearing about what is going on in Mesa, it makes me happy! Family don't worry about me please! I am doing awesome and not letting our conversation get in the way of me working hard! I love this work! I am happy to be here and love and miss you all!!!!

Pictures!

love and miss you

Hey there! i have time to write from 1120-1220! i love you so much and miss you guys. The start of this week was a little rough. I just felt like I wasn't good enough and wasn't able to compare to other missionaries, but I realized that there are many things that i can do that only I can do! Haha, but we had an awesome district meeting this week. We talked about becoming consecrated missionaries. This means putting our time, talents, ability's, thoughts actions and most importantly our heart to the Lord. I have tried to put this into action. I have been thinking a lot about what I want to do and how I can accomplish it, but I know that it is only through surrendering our whole heart to him that makes it possible and easy for us to complete those tough tasks. I had my first real tracting in Oregon experience. It rained and poured the whole day. A man literally slammed the door in our faces, then he came out and yelled "And don't come back!" haha it was funny. I don't really like that people reject this message of the gospel, but I can't help but to brush it off and push forward to the next house. I constantly have a prayer in my heart that someone will recognize that we are servants of the lord. It will be a great day! That same day we also went to a house that smelled like straight up marijuana (sp?) Wow the spirit was NOT at that house. I felt so gross and unhappy being there, we left super fast. To sum it up that was an awesome, but not so awesome day! Sister Abbott and I laughed a lot that day :)! Okay mom and dad- I can't have my ipod, but any church music is allowed, CD player is in our car so we like them. Thank you for the package! I needed that sooooo much! It was great to get some pictures and the shirt and shorts. I will send the watch to Elder Singley so thank you! I love hearing from you! What temple were those pictures from ? Mom will you make sure to save all the pictures I send home into a file on the computer, that way I can free up my memory card on my camera. Thank you! So we are calling from a members house on Sunday! whoot whoot! I will be calling about 7-9pm Oregon time, not sure what Mesa time is, but it will be awesome! And to agree with Cedar, sorry if I cry when I hear your voices! I am so excited to talk with all of you! The weather has been okay here, rainy today though! Today's pday we are going to the Oregon Vortex, not sure what that is, but some members are taking us and I am excited. Jeff J, he is a recent convert took us to lunch a couple days ago, the members are SO AWESOME!! He and another less active- Laura Randall and her kids are going with us to the Vortex, dad I am sure you can look it up online and see all about it before I go, we are going this afternoon. I am glad that the family and you were able to get together while Mindy and Kevin were in town! I really hope they can move down here, that would be so awesome!! Mom and Brighten you need to start doing things for weddings, aka candy tables, and let me join when I get home! I love those things :)!! I can't believe that Crew is turning 4! Holy cow time flies, just like my mission is right now! I have been gone for a month! Where has all the time gone! Happy early bday Crew bear! I sent you a letter so you better wait to open in till your bday!! That is so fun that you get to have a little water party! mom- keep emailing me Cedars emails! That is perfect! I love hearing from him and it is gonna be so awesome when we can talk in person about all of our experiences. We tract about 10 hours a week, visit a lot of less actives, teach investigators and have meetings. We only are home for lunch, about an hour a day. We eat at members homes every night, I need to stop eating all the yummy treats! We have a car 24/7, we borrowed the bikes from a member for that bike ride last week. I was so surprised that I wasn't sore! yippe! We are able to go to the temple once every other transfer. They want us to do missionary work on the earth I guess, haha! I am excited to go this transfer. We will get to go with our district. Some sad news. I will never get to serve on the coast. They only have sisters in about 5 or 6 different areas, but I am still happy that I am in the beautiful state of Oregon! it just gets more green everyday! Okay so about our investigators and how the work is going-- We got a referral from a lady in one of our wards so we went and visited them yesterday. The man and wife are in there 60's. She has pink and purple hair and they have tats all over their bodies. They are super sweet and had no idea that they were referred, but we needed to be there! He had a stroke at the beginning of March and is already able to talk and walk, the docs didn't think that would ever happen! They see the hand of the Lord in there lives and are looking for a church to attend to. They are so prepared! IT is crazy! We talked to them about the Restoration and showed the Joseph Smith movie. The lady just sat there and cried through the whole thing! It was so cool!!!! She and her husband felt the spirit and we are teaching them again on Friday. Tonight we are visiting with April and Derek. WE are going to watch a talk by Robert D Hales, it will be perfect for her. We are planning to make a solid commitment to baptize her on May 22nd! she knows everything she needs to know and is living worthily, but she is looking for something bigger! I just pray and hope that she can recognized the promptings of the spirit. They are such a sweet family and they are going to make us banana pancakes for dinner! They asked us over even though they aren't members ahah! We are starting to see a lot of success and hopefully this will be the start of lots of baptisms in May! I can't wait to see how this week goes! I love seeing the gospel that blesses families and what an amazing thing this is! I hope that you all see that God loves and cares for each one of us. He knows our strengths and our weaknesses, we can come to him in anything! I know that he walks and helps us in EVERYTHING! I hope you all know that I love you all and care about you and thank you for all the prayers and support! I feel your love and I can't wait to hear from you all on Sunday!!!!!!! Take care and be happy, it is all about the attitude, turn your hear to HIM, he will lead and guide every step of the way!
