Holy Smokes!!!

HELLO FAMILY!!!
Sister Abbott was transferred up to Sheridan, Wilimina area and the sister serving there just traded her place. Sister Longhurst is the new comp and she is awesome!!! She got hear on Tuesday night and we have been working so hard. I have been exhausted physically and spiritually since she has gotten here. We feel like the area in Central Point is just going to BOOM, as we would call it, in missionary work. Wow and this week has proven that! Last Sunday Bernice Bailey came to church. She is a 60 year old Native American. She is moving in a couple weeks and had expressed some interest in baptism. So we had an appointment with her on Friday and the spirit was wonderful! Wow the lesson was powerful. We committed her to be baptized on July 24th.... THIS SATURDAY. Wow she was so prepared and ready. The Lord answered our prayers. We have since had 2 other discussions, a chapel tour, she came to all 3 hours at church and we are meeting with her almost everyday this week before the baptism. The ward has fellowshipped her and really taken her in. She has a disease that is slowly killing her, so she is moving to Montana to be with some family and to die where her husband died. She is an amazing person, so full of love and I love her so much. What a wonderful lady that just knew that this was good and right. She recognized the spirit right off the bat, and didn't want that feeling to ever go away. Rewind a couple days... On Thursday we have our weekly planning. It usually takes about 3 hours or so and we make goals and set plans for how many lessons to investigators, recent converts, baptisms, that sort of thing. Well Sister Longhurst and I decided that we wanted to plan in the Medford Temple. So we totally planned in the temple!!!! Well in the Lobby, but still, we were able to feel the spirit and it was powerful! I loved being there and to feel the spirit. I knew that the goals we set where what Heavenly Father wanted us to help him do. Wow it was nuts!!! Alright rewind to Wednesday night... sorry this is all out of order, but you hopefully will see all the amazing things that happened :) So Wednesday night we always go to the Milhoans to have the NML with there son Mathew,16, who was baptized in November. So we were teaching the last lesson and we decided to do it through the talk, Never, Never, Never give up. I had this overwhelming feeling and knew that we needed to invite there family to have missionaries over to there house so we could teach a new family or person...... Well it just so happens that Tony, the middle son of the Milhoans who is 21 has a gf Kayla. I knew that we needed to invite this girl to take the lessons. So we prayed all day that she would be softened to the message. When we got the house, Kayla and Tony said they would come in for the lesson. The spirit was very present and I invited her to learn more. Her eyes lit up and she felt good about it. Wow it was cool. So we set up a time on Saturday.... This brings us to Friday... so after the whole appointment with Bernice, we head over to Vicky Longans house, she is a less active so we thought a fellowshipper would be perfect for her... we invited Sister Milhoan. Anyways the lesson was on Tithing and Fasting. Sister Milhoan expressed to Vicky how fasting was something she had a testimony about. She expressed to us that her and her husband had been fasting for Kayla since November, that her heart would be open and that she would be invited to take the lessons and accept. I had no idea that this happened and that Sister Milhoan was able to receive an answer to her prayers through us. Cool. So Saturday we had our appointment with Kayla at the Milhoans. We had a lesson on the Restoration, Gods Love, The Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith. i can't even express how amazing the lesson was. The whole Milhoan family, Kayla, I and Sister Longhurst were all in tears. The spirit all touched our hearts and Kayla recognized the peace and happiness that the gospel brings. We invited her to be baptized on August 7th and she accepted!!! We are continuing to pray for her, and I know that this girl is ready. She knows that this is good and right. To complicate things, her mom and dad are alcoholics and her dad pulled out a gun on her that night. The Milhoans took in her younger brother, mom and Kayla. Anyways...... they are safe and getting help. No one was hurt, but she is just not in a good situation. Satan is going to push on her more than ever. Pray for her!!!
The work is going to skyrocket. We are asking EVERYONE for referrals and we have gotten many since we have been doing that. Our lessons have been lead by the spirit and we are constantly planning. We had the opportunity to have a lesson with Buddy from the Philippeans. It jsut so happens that Bro. Marre in the ward went to the Philippeans on his mission and told us about Buddy and so Sister Abbott and I tried to contact him a couple times, but never got a hold of him. Sister Longhurst and I met him and we set up an appointment, he canceled on us so we went over to his house on Saturday night. Brother Marre told us to come over if we got ahold of his so he could translate from Togalac to English. Buddy was home, we brought him over to the Marres, and we had a lesson about the Book of Mormon. Buddy said he would read, pray, study and then get back to us. We didn't let him get away that easy, the Marre's are out of town for a week so they told us that they would schedule a time with him to come over and ask him how his experience worked out. Cool stuff. We also tracted into a lady, Mary a couple weeks back. She had talked to missionaries before, well we were looking at the former investigators and decided that this Mary would be a good one to go to, it was cool though cause the address was completely different, she moved and we found her!!! We went over to the house again and talked with her husband, he said to come back on Sunday. We went last night and it was awesome! We told them about the restoration, book of mormon and invited them to church, the baptism and the ward pioneer day party on Saturday. they were excited. WE are going back to there house on Wednesday.
Anyways that was a lot of info, but the work is amazing here!!! It feels right, good happy and just awesome!! I love Sister Longhurst, she has taught me SOOOO much. she is so cheery and happy and makes me happy and it is just fun. We work hard, make plans and set our goals high that help us stretch. i am so happy right now, I am out of that rut that I was in for a while. I love being a missionary. The feeling of bringing others unto Christ is amazing. My prayers have been answered so many times this last week and are continuing to be answered. Know that I love you all!! I hope that you can find the tape recorder!!!! I feel so good being here, so sorry if I was negative in the tape, know that I love you all and I hope you have a fantastic week!!!!!!!

XOXXOO Love, Sister Glasgow

July 12th

We had Zone Conference on Tuesday and it was awesome!! The assistants talked about goal setting and how we can set more achievable goals that can make us stretch... President also talked about this and the miracles that we are able to see each day when we are specific and look for those experiences. The spirit filled the room and we all committed to looking for those miracles in our lives each day. President told us that an APOSTLE is coming to the mission for zone conference in September!! i am so excited! He told us that they know who it is, but it changes from time to time, so up until a couple weeks before the conference we won't know. He told us to read the conference talks and be ready to hear a voice of an apostle. President told Sister Abbott that she is definetly getting transferred on Wednesday morning. My new comp- Sister Longhurst will be here tomorrow night at about 7pm!!! I am so excited to meet her... I don't know anything about her, so next week I will fill you in on all the details. Thanks mom for my atm card... mine was going to expire. Thank you for the letter and pics you sent. i hung the pics on my wall to remind me of all of you back home and to give me strength as I study and get ready for the day. I love you all so much!! I finished the tape so I am going to send home a package in the mail today. I have gotten soooo many stamps from all of you so thank you so much!! I love writing letters when i can ;)!! Oh and I finally got to eat sugar... wow it was so good. Dad- i had one of your favortite little desserts when i ate it for the first time-- scotcheroos!! it was so yummy. Although it made my stomach hurt and I felt sick cause of all the sugar. Going without sugar for 6 weeks was hard, but so worth it. I felt tons better about the kind of food I was eating!! My ankle has been super stiff this week so I asked the Elders to give me a blessing. Almost immedietly the pain started to go away. We played dodgeball today and I hurt it again-- it's my own fault, I guess I will just gimp a little while longer! This week I have been trying to be more specific in my prayers. My prayers were answered and I got to witness a miracle. Bernice Baily is a non-member who came to the bishop looking for some help and he invited her to come to church. She requested a Book of Mormon and then told them that she would attend all 3 hours. I guess she had been to a ward about 5 years ago, and had a good experience. She slipped through the cracks and never thought a whole lot about it. Well she is living here for the next couple weeks and decided that she wanted to try it out again. We met her and she basically asked us how long it takes to get baptised... say what??!!! Wow we told her that it could take about 2 weeks since she came to church today. Her living situation is a little rough right now, so we don't have a time for an appointment this week, but she told us she would call to schedule, and we got her number to follow up. No way is she going to slip through the cracks this time!!! The other miracle part of this story is that the McFarlands came to the Gospel Principles class. They NEVER come to that class and for some reason they were there. They both bore powerful testimonies of their conversion stories and we all could feel the power in there words. The lesson was the on the Holy Ghost.. what a perfect time and lesson for Bernice to hear this. It was so cool!!!
Well I don't have much time cause S. Abbott is going to get a perm, but I love you all so much!! I hope to hear from you all soon!!

Hello from Central Point, Oregon! Man is it hot over here! I feel like I am in AZ!! This week was alright. Man the mission has highs and lows and this week was kinda in the middle... :) Sister Abbott is getting transferred to a new area next Tuesday or so, so I have a week to learn all I can from her before she leaves. I started to panic this week about her leaving and broke down and just wanted to cry. I love her a lot, even though we have our differences. We have had some great times together and I just wish her the best when she leaves. My district leader, Elder Peterson and one of the zone leaders are also getting transferred.... Everyone is leaving me!!! ahhh!! I know that the Lord will bless me, he never stops blessing us.
I was able to get a little taste of how it would be without S. Abbott here on Monday night till Tuesday cause we went on exchanges. Sister Thain from White City and Eagle point came down to stay with me while S. Abbott went to her area. I was so nervous the whole day before she came. I just prayed that the Lord would guide me to people to teach and words to say. We didn't find any new investigators, but I was able to have a clear mind and people that we needed to visit just worked out well. Sister Thain is REALLY shy, so I totally had to step it up and get her kinda out of her comfort zone a little bit. That reminds me... S. Abbott showed me a picture of the word Comfort zone and drew a circle around it. Outside of the comfort zone she wrote miracle all surrounding in it. We truly learn to step out of our comfort zones and then we can see all the miracles that come.
Miranda and Mondo had to cancel there appointment this week so we didn't get to see them. Lehenekr is doing great. The ward is going to get a fellowshipper to do the new member lessons with her. She has just totally changed. I love being able to see her and feel the spirit she carries with her. She is still being really sneaky and has us write down scriptures to study to help her roommate Vicky come back to church. Randy and Charlene Nelson invited us over for dinner on Thursday night. They talked to us about missionary work and left US with a challenge. They told us to ask the people we knock on doors about what there favorite passage of scripture is... I thought that was so cool that they would issue that challenge to us!!
Zone Conference is tomorrow!!!! I can't wait for it! S. Abbott and i are gonna show up in our stunna shades and shirts we made so we can show president.
Today we went to the natural bridge. Wow it was so beautiful!!! The Holbrooks took us there and we loved watching the water flow out and see all the beautiful trees. It is so relaxing to sit and listen to rushing water!!! We also went over to Laura Randalls house. She made us steak.. I haven't really been a fan of that, probably cause the time that aunt Michelle choked and spit it in my cup while she was visiting us in utah... don't deny it Michelle!! ahhaah. The steak was actually pretty tasty. I was SOOOOO glad that it was cooked ALL THE WAY... it wasn't mooing like I know some of you like it like that... Chase, Cannon, Crew :)
BTW... A little boy that sat in front of us at church yesterday totally was reading an Astrix comic book... hahaha the good old days of watching that movie!! It made me laugh.
This week at District Meeting S. Abbott challenged each of us to pick a day to be happy ALL DAY. I chose to do this the past couple days actually... wow what a difference it makes. I was suprised how good it made me feel and helped me not feel so overwelmed, selfish, negative....etc.
Last night we sat on the balcony above our apartment and watched the fireworks while we drank cream soda and wrote our weekly letter to pres. Wow we are living the life here!! We even got to see lots of fireworks... crazy how last year we were at Lego Land in teh parking lot watching fireworks.... plus Morgan and Colten got engaged taht day too!!!!
Anyways this week we tracted over 12 hours and we haven't added any to our teaching pool. It is discouraging to not have many investegators, but I know that the Lord is preparing people and if anything I am growing from the trials and everyday things that happen on the mission.
This week I felt like Enos when his "soul hungered." I felt a huge need to pray more sincere and earnest. I know that the Lord answers prayers. Here is an experience I had. I had an off day this week and when we came home to have lunch I found a letter from Gramma Glasgow on our doorstep. She gave me words of encouragement and that was just what I needed. I had been praying for some comfort or good feelings to lift me up out of the gloom. Then later that day we stopped by a sisters house in the ward, who totally reminds me of Gramma Glasgow, to use the restroom. She asked me if I ever felt discouraged. i thought it funny that she would ask me on that very day that I had felt discouraged. She told me to keep moving forward... basically the same things that the letter had said too. I just felt like the Lord knew exactly what to help me with and I saw my prayers answered through people. I truly know that people are a way that we can feel the love of our Heavenly Father. I am grateful that I can be an extension of that for people here. I know that we are being blessed and watched over. I hope you all have a fantastic week!!! I love you all!!
