It was so great to call home and talk to you family!! I was really
nervous leading up to noon, but felt so good when I heard all of your
voices. I could picture you all in the front room hanging out and it
felt like I was just down the street. I loved hearing about the fun
things you are all doing.. thanks for the updates. I was so glad that
I got to talk with Ceds for a few minutes, glad that i got to surprise
him. That was a blessing to hear his voice... I didn't cry too much
either! I had a good rest of the day. Well.... kinda awkward. haha.
We went to a families house to say hello ( we were supposed to have
dinner with them, but had to cancel cause we had to be in Corvallis at
6pm). It was super awkward. I didn't know the family and I felt like a
loser just stopping by on them. They were making xmas dinner and it
was just weird. We jetted out as fast as we could. We had about 3
hours until we had to leave, so we decided to go early to Corvallis
and walk around campus or something, but we forgot our coats and it
was raining. We ended up going into Safeway and buying a bagel and
some Martinelli's. We are our bagels in the car. We didn't have a
bottle opener so we had to pry it open with some keys. The bottle kept
oozing out and it was sticky and all over our pants and hands. It was
mess... but it was a xmas dinner that I will always remember :). That
night we played SPEED with the elders, had a white elephant gift
exchange and then made mini smores with some lighters. It was a great
day. I was worried that it would distract me from the work, but on
Sunday we got down to business and it was a great day.
Homer is still getting baptized on the 8th of January. We are stoked
for him. One of our RC- Luke, has been fellowshipping him and
hopefully will get to baptize Homer--that would be sweet!!
I feel more settled about Transfers now. Sister Abbott will be a great
addition to Sweet Home. We are going to be in a trio only for 6
weeks... I just know that we will have a blast. I am so glad that
Sister Nelson is going to be staying with us too. So we had to
rearrange our room. We have 2 beds and a trundle bed, 3 desks, a huge
entertainment Center... all in a room that is 20x 25 sq ft. haha, we
are gonna be super tight this transfer.
I feel so blessed to have it so good. I love being a missionary right
now. Sometimes I feel like I am living a dream and that everyone's
life is on pause. I have had some amazing experiences this week and I
am grateful that prayers have been answered. The Lord is very aware of
the people in Sweet Home and lives are being changed.
Thanks again for all the xmas cards and packages. I had a wonderful
xmas!! I love you all... have a Happy New Year!!

Merry Christmas!!

Hey all!! Merry Christmas... I am so looking forward to calling home.
Will be a great present!
This week was great. We went on exchanges and I got to go with Sister
Abbott!! We had a blast talking about good ol Central Point and
Goldhill again. We found this sweet guy, Homer, while tracting. His
step mom is a less active member of the church. We gave him a tour of
the church on Friday. He showed up in a white shirt, black pants, and
a xmas tie. WOW that was sweet!! He came to church and the xmas devo
last night for the ward. He is solid.. gonna be baptized in the
beginning of January.
We had a challenge with the seminary students this past week.... Who
could pass out the most Book of Mormons in a week. 22 Seminary kids
vs. Sister Nelson and I. The kids handed out 17 BOM!!! I was soooo
proud of them, especially seeing that they beat us by 3. It was great
to here of the stories of giving them out to the people they truly
loved and cared about. They even had stipulations about handing them
out... they had to explain it, bear testimony and invite them to read
it. Those kids are AWESOME!! They KNOW how to do missionary work. We
lost so we brought them breakfast on Saturday. If we won, then they
would all have to get up and bear their testimonies on fast sunday...
I still hope some of them will. Most of the kids said that the friends
they talked with were really excited to read it. One boy tried to give
out 5 and was rejected all 5 times. The last person he tried to give
it to told him that "I would burn it if you gave that to me." He
pushed thru the rejection and is still looking to give someone a BOM
before the end of the year. Sweet!! They all were positive and we
talked about the importance of inviting. That is all that we can do.
That is where the success lies. It was a great experience for me to
see that missionary work can be done as a normal person too. They are
awesome examples to me. :)
So last night was one of the greatest things I have ever done in my
whole life. I read the Book of Mormon from 8pm- 3:30am last night. It
took me 7 1/2 hours to do it, but I finished front to back. It was
AMAZING!! I had some great experiences. I love the Book of Mormon. My
testimony grew so much in one night. I didn't think that I could do
it, but I stuck threw and did it. Thanks to some carrots, popcorn and
starbursts. We made some pretty funny videos thru it all cause we were
super tired. S Nelson did it in 9 hrs. I was grateful to do it and I
will remember that experience for the rest of my life. If you haven't
read the BOM before, do it!! It will change your life. I love it so
much.
Well I am looking forward to Christmas. I have loved reflecting on my
Savior and the things that I have been given in my life. It is such a
great time to be on a mission. I love the work, I love the Lord, I
love my family, and I love all of you!! I hope you all have a very
Merry Christmas and remember the reason of CHRISTmas. !! XOXO

Hey!
So this week was great! We tracted more this week than I have in a
LONG time, but it was great. I needed that.
We went over to Brant and April's last night.. btw they are from
Showlow... and we made stop smoking signs to put up all over the house.
We brought them grapefruit juice, mouthwash, gum and vitamin C. They
are really excited to start to stop. haha. They made some funny signs.
Brant was way into it. He had some that said.. "I don't want Cancer"
"Do it for your kids" Smoking Sucks" "Get rid of that Death Stick" It
was so fun to be over there. The boys, Brayden (15) and Maceo (6) also
made signs. I love being around them. I have been able to see a change
in them over the last 3 weeks that I have been here. It is truly
amazing what the gospel can do for people. That makes me so happy. So
they officially started last night, pray for them. They are gonna need
it!! I know they can do it. They want to quit so bad, but the
addiction is terrible. The next few weeks might be rough, but it was
awesome to talk about Faith and Jesus Christ with them. They are
praying and reading the Book of Mormon. They want to change so they
can be baptized, so sweet!
We got some referrals in the ward this week... actually like 10
referrals. One of them was a for Thomas and Tiffany. He is a less
active member and hasn't been to church is years. Tiffany isn't a
member. We were sent over there to share a message with them about the
Atonement and the Plan of Salvation. We found out that she lost her
baby a week ago. She was 5 months pregnant and her water broke. She
was very positive and held it together really well. We had an awesome
lesson with her. The spirit was super strong and I don't even remember
half the things that were said. It's lessons like those that I will
remember forever. We are going back this week to teach her and her 2
kids and reactivate the husband.
We had a challenge for the seminary students this week. We are trying
to see who can pass out the most BOM-- 22 students vs. S Nelson and I.
So far S Nelson and I are winning. It ends on thursday. It has been
great hearing about the stories of the kids giving them out. They were
all terrified to do it, but with lots of encouragement and prayer,
they are doing great. We read the talk Flooding the Earth with the
Book of Mormon by President Benson. I love that talk so much. I have
come to love the Book of Mormon as I study it each day. We are blessed
to have a guide book to life. We don't have to worry and wonder about
what we should do. Our Heavenly Father wants us to return to live with
him and the way to do it is available to each of us. I have come to
love sharing this message with everyone.
I am getting so excited for Xmas to come in less than 2 weeks. Can't
believe it is already here. Last time I called, I cried. I don't want
to do that again. I also don't want to talk about time, countdown to
when I come home or when I get home we are gonna.... I think that will
be too hard for me. K? Get your Q's ready for me and NO CRYING!! I
love you all so much and am so grateful to have a family that is so
awesome. I appreciate all that you do for me. This will be a Christmas
to remember :)

To my family and friends that I love!!
This week was a lesson on patience. I need to work on it more and
more. Not the best week I have had on my mission, doesn't help that
last week was at the top of the list either. We are trying to find
more people to teach, but we have some grinch's up here. I have
studied a lot about patience and having faith thru trials, I feel like
Heavenly Father was preparing me for this week cause it was kinda
dumpy. Most of our apt's canceled on us each day. We were left out in
the freezing cold to tract and find people... We found a couple people
and we look forward to teaching them this week. The longer I am out on
my mission the more I realize how much I need His help. I am nothing
without the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been able to reflect and
ponder about the Savior and the precious knowledge of the gospel that
I have. I get to talk to people everyday and teach them the truth...
the best news in the world!! We spoke to a man this week that didn't
want anything to do with us, my heart hurt so much for him. I want
everyone to feel the joy that I have experienced. Prayers are heard
and answered. We were able to pray for an increase of charity and
love for the people in Sweet Home. It has been difficult, and Satan is
working so hard to get us to give up and go quit. I am grateful that I
have a testimony of the gospel that keeps me going no matter how hard
or difficult things are.
We are still teaching Brant and April... they are going to start the
stop smoking program this next week. I am super stoked for them!! Last
night we spoke with April and I can see such a change in her. They
came to church and loved it again!
We got to listen to the Christmas Devotional last night. I loved the
story that President Monson told about the star.
I am so glad that I get to be on a mission this Christmas, it is going
to be a good one for sure. My comp and I put up a little santa hat and
stocking up in our room. We also put up the Happy Holiday's sign on
our car. I have been listening to the Christmas music from gramma.
Lots of people have been putting up lights on their houses.... they
all look like gingerbread houses. I wish more would do it.
We started teaching a class on sunday. It is called M3. Missionary
Minded Members. It is a way for members to do missionary work. It was
so awesome!! We have 6 couple in the class. It is a 6 week course and
by the end of it they will invite someone to church, give out a BOM,
bear testimony and hopefully we will be able to teach them. I am so
excited that the ward is pumped about it. We have some solid couples
that are taking it really serious. I had a great experience as we all
knelt down and prayed individually for friends and family that they
could share the gospel with. So many things are going to come from
this class... good things :)!!
We are going to Eugene today... We are gonna eat at the Olive Garden
and hang out there. I am WAY excited.... tempted to call up Steph so I
can see her again. Both Sister Nelson and I served in Eugene so we
can't wait to go back and spend some time with all the crazies :)!! Oh
yeah btw... I LOVE MY DUCKS!!!! They are undefeated and beat Oregon
State this weekend. It is a huge rivalry here, so Sister Nelson and I
showed our support for Oregon and painted our finger nails green and
yellow. Can't wait for them to go to the National Championship and
win!! Whoo hoo!!!
Hope you all have a great week. I love and miss you all!!
Canny-- glad that you had such a good bday, you are so grown up. How
tall are you now??
Morgieshmorgie is Preggo!!!! holy smokes I can't wait to see the
little Borgia baby when I come home!! Yippeeee congrats cousie!!!!
